Reminded by Beautyholics Anonymous, yesterday I heard on the radio about the news of The Body Shop Founder, Dame Anita Roddick has passed away at the age of 64.

It is indeed a sad news for us Body Shop lovers, but, may you rest in peace. I will continue to support products from The Body Shop!

As I was flipping around the news online, the headline immediately caught my attention:

Chua: Health screening at shopping centres illegal

PETALING JAYA: Health screening and checks cannot be conducted at shopping centres and hotels.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said those who carried out such tests were doing so without the approval and support of the ministry.

I believe this is a very common scenes in the shopping malls these days. The most common types would be tests for diabetes. I have never gone for such tests, worrying that there might be a catch. As for me, I go for blood test in the Pathlab, which reminds me, I forgot to go this year.

Anyway, other than health screenings, there are also plenty of skin screening, skin test where you put on face on the machine, then they will tell you your skin condition, dry or too oily, which part of your face suffers from serious clogged pores and etc. Of course, they will immediately sale their products to you. Nothing is free in this world, unless you are really persistent. I have gone for 2 free skin tests like these out of curiosity, of course I did not let them earn a single cent. I don’t know if there is any potential harm to skin with the test, but, for all I know is, if you have a soft ear, you are bound to fall for their tricks!

So, always be a smart consumer! For more info on this news, read here.

As I wrote in my previous post on Diamond Spa experience, I went around digging the old brochures that I got from them for the price.

The promotional price was RM2xxx where you get to choose you can get a Diamond Energy Water + a Diamond Spa, or 2 units of Diamond Spa, but it must be 2 units of Diamond products at RM2xxx. As usual, being an aggressive salesman, he kept pestering me to buy while I wasn’t interested at all looking at the price. It’s like, I have used the chlorine water for all my life, and I am still kicking, and my skin has rot from the results of using the normal water. Like a comment here, “our species survived all this generations on normal water and i think we can survive generations more without this diamond water stuff.”

To really convince me, they even gave me some free stuff for kids, a DIY pen holder with their Diamond logo. I don’t have kids and I don’t have small litte thing relatives, so I guess probably I should DIY it myself. Oh yeah, and to escape from the salesman, I made some fake promise like, “yeah, it’s so good, I will come back tomorrow with my friend so that we can share to buy the 2 units of Spa.”

Weee…there I went. Successfu escape. But, I wouldn’t want to be dragged by them, ever again.
