In reply to beetrice. ^5 for being 'classic'! i love my milo tin lantern last time too, nothing could burn the tin down so it lasted quite long. >.< i really don't quite get the gadgety lanterns too, it's just...not tradition!

In reply to Paris B. i have not seen any kids walking with lanterns on the road for ages. and ahhh the glass paper lanterns, i took good care of them like baby and just repair it if it's burnt. not like now, sikit sikit just buy new one :(

LOL…what Paris said! I miss those old lanterns – they get more and more ‘fake’ each year…first came the plastic ones with lightbulbs…then they started making them in cartoon characters like Powerpuff Girls and Spongebob…after that came adding music and blinking lights…this year was the last straw for me though – one kid I saw had a plastic Hello Kitty one with music, blinking lights AND blowing bubbles out its mouth! >.<

oh, and mine back then used to be a rooster (my zodiac animal) – ended up having to repair it myself cos my bro conveniently pushed mine over after he had burnt a huge hole in his!

I LOVE traditional paper lanterns that burn up every year! I also used to have one in a shape of a phoenix covered with glass paper. I’d be super careful with it and after the mooncake festival, we’ll keep it back nicely. One year, I burnt half of it. Dad repaired it for me by pasting more glass paper on it and it was good as new! 😀 I feel you. These days, I’m not sure anyone even walks around outside with lanterns anymore. “Its not safe” 🙁
