My husband's face is pock-marked from frequent extractions. My mother-in-law brought him for facials when he was younger (mother-son moments? :P) and the beauty therapist thought the only way to help his oily skin was to pop all the pimples he had on his cheeks. His cheeks are now left with craters because of her idiocy.

As for me, I don't like them. I don't think they're all that necessary to be honest. I prefer chemical exfoliants to that anytime. Funny thing is, in Malaysia, extractions come hand-in-hand with facials. Over here, unless you ask for it, they don't do it for you. Chances are it's either not necessary or they want to skip an extra step of work :P

Yeah I agree with you on having frequent extractions. I'm on the fence with extractions. I know they get rid of all the grub in your pores but the redness and pain involved are just too much for me. I had two extraction experiences but didn't feel like they had any lasting effect. I am strong believer in salicylic acid treatments as a way to minimize clogged pores so you won't have to traumatize your skin this way.

I guess I have a pretty high tolerance for extractions during facials, as I don't mind them, but yes, they're unpleasant. Definitely can't sleep when extractions are being done! :P For me I find that facials with extractions last "longer" for me- my face feels softer and smoother (And much "cleaner") for longer compared to facials without extractions (I've tried the Clarins facials before as well), especially around my chin area, but maybe it's because of my skin type which is more onto dry/dehydrated and sensitive hmm.

Although recently I found that using a "resurfacing" wash every night (I'm using Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial Wash) paired with konjac sponge helps diminish the need for frequent exfoliation (I used Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant) and my skin doesn't feel as bumpy as it used to be :P I used to touch my chin and if it's always bumpy and rough I know I'm overdue for a facial hahaha!
