i much prefer to work from home, but i suspect i don’t have that sort of determination to just work and not do anything related to work 😛

too much distractions in office like phone calls and customers around, work always get cut off when I am concentrating! but then again office gives you a bit more communication, though I don’t think I mind the lack of it. it gets frustrating when you need help with work but there’s no one though.

the bf works from home, and i love how flexible his time can be, one thing for sure is everyone seems to think he’s not working and like he’s on holiday!

I think it really depends on the nature of your work and your own personality. Some jobs require you to be in contact with others to complete your job whereas some are very “thinking” solitary jobs. I think for the latter, if you stayed at home all the time, you would def go mad and you would need to make an extra effort to create a social life outside of your home office. And from experience, it is really not easy as an adult (esp since I also moved countries) for a myriad of reasons. Let’s just say it’s harder to make good friends later on in life. But there are a lot of pros to working from home though I think it’s not as easy as what most people would deem.

I work from home at least once a week and I find that I get more work done at home (despite the cleaning and cooking and doing laundry) than at work (maybe there are more distractions at work – meetings to attend, the phone ringing, people walking over to ask questions, and oh, chitchatting with colleagues! 😀 ) – I work longer hours too! IMHO its a good option to have (especially for those with kids) but then again one must know when to stop working and consider it a wrap for the day!! 😉

Hi Xin! I would love the flexibility to work from home when the need arise, i.e. to break away from the mad crawl to city centre on daily basis. Fortunately, on some days when I am not required to attend internal/external meetings, I can request to work from home, just a day in many months or during off peak period. Due to the nature of my work, sometimes we put in long hours and when I am not required for client facing tasks, I can some flexibility.
