Fun Designs but Nay Application: Nail Foil Sticker Review

by xin on September 23, 2011

With my first success with Sephora nail patch, I have been looking around to see if there are any cheaper deals for these sorts of stickers since I don’t think they are meant to be pricey.

I made my first purchase with BornPrettyStore as they have quite a large selection of nail stuff, including these nail foils, and they ship for free!

Nail Patch 1

I picked up 2 packets of nail foils to try it out. And thank goodness only 2!

Nail Patch 2

I really love the designs as many of them are really close to impossible to be hand drawn with the details.

And this really looks like the normal stickers, which I could sniff the trouble of application already.

You will need scissors and nail file to complete the job.

I suggest not to use base coat with this as it will make the nail foil less adhesive.

The sticker is stiff and it doesn’t ‘melt’ to your nail shapes.

Nail Patch 3

You see what I meant? The application is bumpy and you cannot smooth the surface with your finger or anything else.

Most troublesome of all, you need to trim the excess off with scissors and only buff it out with nail file.

This is quite tough as you won’t be able to see the shape of your nails and you might risk zapping your nails off.

Top coat is not needed either as you will not be able to coat it anyway. It doesn’t seem to have an effect on foils.

Nail Patch 4

They look alright from afar,  but… just the next day, one of the foils disappeared already -_-

Other than the cute designs, I really wish  I had something good to say about these nail foils, but unfortunately, no.

Unless you are really keen on trying new and cheaper alternatives; otherwise don’t bother. The hassle and the frustration are just too much to bear.

But of course, you can browse for other items on the website, and it took only less than 2 weeks for the goods to reach me ;)

Price: USD$5.37/pack

I’ve jumped the nail patch bandwagon too after reading all the reviews- I just bought the Sephora nail patch and here are my results! http://twitpic.com/6ob0om :)

Thank you! :D I want to get a Sephora nail patch in the French Manicure version for my, but I won’t be going to Sephora for a while :( I might want to pick up the polka dot version for myself too. I haven’t tried Sally Hansen’s because it’s hard to hunt down and the ones available are not my cup of tea, but I would like to try the one in Misbehaved :P And First Kiss nail patches are a bit thicker than Sephora’s.

What a cool design! But application seems quite difficult and it’s not worth it if the stickers start coming off the next day.

in a way, i think nail polishes are so much easier, it’s just the drying time is a lot longer compared to stickers

They always work best if heated with a hair dryer (not too much though) and then when put onto the nail and smoothed out with something with the texture of an eraser and then you stretch it to fit the nail better. There are very helpful videos on you tube
