It’s a rather different Sunday activities – no thanks to the pouring rain, I had to stay in instead of out cycling.
I took out my polishes, while debating on what to paint, I saw my canvas art block lying there – waiting to be deflowered.
Having no experience at all in painting on a real block instead of nails, I ran through some google images to search for inspiration, and finally decided on something simple and doesn’t require much drawing skills.
Feeling nervous about ruining the brand new block, I sketched the shape of a tree with a pencil and it turned out to be a regret. It’d be easier to paint it directly. I tried to erase off some of the sketch and ended up dirtying the board.
You will need some good acrylic colors so the colors will not clump. I am liking this brand called Jo Sonja’s. The color is so smooth, and perfect for little details.
Next is the easier part – you can use a smaller brush for the hearts but I only used one brush so I didn’t have to wash so many brushes!
Scatter the hearts around randomly, and you can add different color of hearts as you go.
Almost there…but not enough color contrast and it’s not merry enough.
I added some lime green hearts and little birdies, and I am done!
Acrylic color dries up very fast, and it doesn’t spread out so much like water color.
It’s somewhat nice when it’s hung on the wall 😀

I can see this displayed in a bedroom. Great job for a first-timer!

That’s quite pretty! 😀 Where did you buy your canvas block from?
these blocks can be found at art stores, or popular, much cheaper in the book store
