Marena Shapewear Thoughts & Review: Mini Shorts with High-Waist

by xin on December 20, 2010

Body shaping wear is nothing new to me ever since I have seen my mothers/aunties wearing it. Being a child, it was hard to understand the logic behind it….but now I do!

In fact, I started to appreciate the invention of shapewear..you know horrible when bulges are visible underneath the tight (or not) dress right?

Just the recent years, I have tried a couple of shape wear, especially those high waist ones, but I have not found anything that is really comfortable, and would not roll down from underneath chest into a roll at tummy until I was introduce Marena Shape Wear.

Marena Shapewear - Mini Shorts with high-waist

Made from 51% Tactel Nylon and 49% Soft Lycra, it is REALLY quite stretchable without going out of shape even when you take it off.

This is how my Mini Shorts with High-Waist looks like. Of course this is not me :P

As you can see, the pants can be pulled up really high, and best part is, it doesn’t roll down easily. Basically, it can stay longer in place (provided that you wear it properly) compared to all those that I have worn last time.

On the website, it claims to:

- slims you down
- reduce soreness when you exercise
- enhances skin tone
- keeps you cool and dry
- kills bacteria

Marena Shapewear Stretched

On the stretchability, it is quite durable. Even with my nails stretching it, it still goes back to original shape after I release.

The material of all shape wears is always one of my main concerns because I always have long nails and there are the chances of my nails tearing the garment. Believe me, it had happened quite many times with the fragile underwear.

Here comes some scary before picture.

Marena Shapewear Before

I feel so….yucky to see my own fats but for the sake of sharing, I am sacrificing my rolls in the day light here.

Round of applause for me please! And even better if you tell me that you have rolls too :P

Marena Shapewear After

After wearing the Mini Shorts. Major part of the rolls are hidden. I swear I didn’t suck in my tummy!

As you can see, it is not an entirely flat tummy, but will do to hide some ugly bulges.

Mini Shorts with high-waist: Marena Shapewear After 2

This is how the front looks like. It’s not 100% invisible.

Best part is, THERE IS NO CAMELTOE! Of course I didn’t pull up higher to show :P

Yeah say NO to cameltoe!

As you can see, the shorts are not too short and can be worn alone too without pants over it.

Due to the high compression rate, it can compress your fats more and reduce the appearance of cellulite (if worn regularly). But high compression here does not mean discomfort. I have worn it quite many times even to exercises! But I am not sure if I ran any faster but my skin did not feel any discomfort underneath the garment.

As for washing, it is advisable to hand wash it so that the shape wear lives longer. It can even dry without sunlight, if you leave it under the fans, it should be dried overnight.

When I am wearing this Marena Shapewear, I manage to compress an inch off my belly and hip thigh. Though 1 inch is not life and death, but it does make a difference, eg easier to button up especially when I am wearing tight pants.

Manufactured in the USA, official website at marenaeveryday.com, for Malaysians who are interested to purchase, it is available on active-shape.com. It’s now having promotions till end of 2010. You might want to check on the sizing chart for reference.

This Mini Shorts with High-Waist retails at RM389 (after % is RM311.20). They also carry other interesting garments like compression sleeves (slimmer arms!), girdles, bodysuit, camisoles etc for both men and women.

Yes, men need shape wear too!

Hey sister, I applause you for posting photos even if you’re not comfortable just for the sake of review, you are one blogger to look up to!

Sis, would you believe I bought a similar one but in flesh tone? not the same brand but it doesn’t roll down as well! It rolls all the way up near the bra !!!! :) But mine is on “panty” version instead of the legging version! :)
