Ever since my passion for nail polish started to grow, the collection is slowly expanding too. And…I could no longer stand the sight of the messy collection. And after reading fellow nail sister Nikki’s post on her storage system, I knew I had to do something about it.
My original storage, a 4-tier mini chest. It has served me well (also for other stuff) for the past 8 years (!). Can’t believe how fast time flies!
Then…when I inherited some polishes from a dear friend, I started keeping more and more polishes in the paper bag…
As you can see, it is a hassle to pick the colors and if you suddenly need a color before the polish on hand dries up, it will mess up your nails.
After quite some search, I finally found the perfect friend for my currently limited space.
This is a Helmer and you will need some patience and strength to assemble it up, including a lot of bending the metal frames.
It comes in 3 shades: red, pearl white and silver.
After about an hour of hard work (with me playing Angry Birds at the side while watching hubby to do the job), it is finally done!
I think red is the best looker among the 3.
I anxiously arranged all my polishes into the drawers.
Tips: With the cardboard boxes, you can cut them up and lay it in the drawer as a base if you are anal about getting the paint scratched.
The depth of the drawer is just nice for standing or lying nail polishes.
Tier 1 consists of all the base & top coat, glitter polishes and light colors.
Comes the 2nd tier, I started to feel impatient and decided just to put them all together.
Same goes to the 3rd tier -_-
I tried to arrange them all standing up, but it was too much work (!).
Finally a neat tier 4, I keep my acrylic paint and nail brushes inside for convenience use.
And the 5th tier holds my Konad stamping tools, gem stones and stickers.
The last tier holds all my misc stuff which I do not know where to put.
At last, I cut up a piece of non-slip mat that I bought previously also from Ikea to be the drawer top. It can help to protect the top from scratches and also for me to put more stuff on top. So yeay!
It comes with wheels too, but can only wheel a straight line. It is perfect for me so far, and who knows one day when I am sick of polishes, it can be used for other stuff too
