NOTD: Lolita Nails

by xin on May 5, 2009

It is Tuesday! 3 more days to fri πŸ˜€

It’s been long since i last painted my nails, I broke my nail on pinky and i was kinda depressed about it. But…bah!

Today, i am going to show you a fun way of painting: Lolita nails. You only need some basic tools to complete the look πŸ™‚

tools

Base and top coat, 2 shades of nail polish, one white art tool, one tooth pick, gemstones of your choice.

OPI never lon done shopping

Firstly, paint a layer of red polish on your nails. You can use any red polish that you have,Β  what i am using is this Never-Lon-Done-Shopping from OPI. It givesΒ  really nice shade and finish! And it is easy to apply without too many strokes.Β  Allow it to dry.

Then, paint a layer of black polish on the tip. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It won’t be too obvious in the end. Let dry. Use your white nail art pen and dot some dots on the red region.

Which will turn out something like this. Then just stick your gemstones along the line of black polish. You can design this as you wish. I stuck more diamonds on my middle finger, and check out the bling!

Close-up. If you notice, my red polish has gone out the border of my nails. But i tried my best! It is hard to achieve saloon-result at home because we cannot be erasing ALL the mistakes single handed without smudging our designs. So, embrace the imperfections!

Hope you like my nails. πŸ˜€ It definitely cheers me up whenever I look at it. But now i am having some problems hitting the keys on keyboard as the diamonds are sticking out.

If you think this is a little hard, then just stickers instead! Nikki has done a great tutorial and it is definitely no-sweat. πŸ™‚

For the polish that goes onto your skin, clean it up with a Q-tip dipped in remover after everything has dried. Cleans nicely.
