Some of the people prefer fair skin, while there are people who prefer tanned skin. As for me, I never liked tanned skin. I had experienced enough during the school days sports training, where I would look like a pile of stupid charcoal, and I would do whatever to untan myself, so, I told myself never to go under the sun so seriously again.
But, there are people who look stunning with tanned skin, well, I think it is just not my stuff. You see, sun tanning works differently on different people. Let’s say, 2 friends, spending the same amount of time exposed to the same sun intensity, but they will go home with far different results. Why is it that one might go home looking like crap while another go home looking glam?
Actually, this is because of our skin type. There are many factors that can influence the outcome such as taking certain prescription medications and using certain types of skin care products.
You see, when our skin is over exposed to the sun without enough sun protection before hand, the exposure will cause melanin, which is the pigment in the body that gives skin its color, to rise to the surface of the skin. Melanin also works to protect our skin from the sun! And also, people with light or fair skin have less melanin while people with dark complexions obviously have more melanin. You see, if melanin is to protect our skin from the sun, which means, those who are fairer with less melanin, will also have less protection from the sun.
After all that, you start to get sun burn. Next up, let’s see what is sun burn.
Tan, anyone?
