Current Favorite: [A’Kin] by Purist Skincare for Anti-Aging Part I

A'kin Skincare

Ever since I started using skincare, I have tried a couple of Australian skincare brands before, and I found myself quite liking their products generally.  So when I was offered to review [A’Kin] by Purist anti-aging (or dry skin) products, I gladly accepted!

A’kin Rose & Geranium Pure Facial Creamy Cleanser & Toner

It’s not hard at all to see why this cleanser won a reader’s choice beauty award! Having to deal with dry skin, I am careful even when it comes to cleanser selection. I have a preference towards milk cleanser for the comfort it offer, and also double up as light makeup remover.

The ingredient list.

It’s creamy enough not to be runny, and easy to spread. It feels so soft against skin and smells of nice rose geranium.

It does quite a decent job at removing light makeup, ie foundation, blusher, lipstick. For waterproof mascara and eye liner, I suggest using eye makeup remover for proper removal.

However, one of the setback is, I am not a fan of bottles of such designs. It tends to leave a mess at the cap when you place it at the sink where water tends to collect. It can look slightly gross unless you clean it up each time after use. I also had similar problems with some of the Mark & Spencers shower gel in such packaging.

I would really love it if it comes in a pump bottle instead for cleaner and easier dispensing experience.  Other than the less than perfect packaging, I love everything about this cleanser! Best of all, it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tugged nor dry at all!

A’kin Revitalising Cellular Radiance Serum

Revitalizing Cellular Radiance Serum

My second favorite product of the lot has to be this radiance serum.

Comes in a neat amber bottle with a pipette, it’s easy to see how much you have left, and how many drops are you using.

The ingredient list. It doesn’t contain any fragrance, but the scent somehow reminds me of rose hip oil. However, this is lighter and almost negligible if you don’t take a good sniff at it.

Since the cream cleanser can double up as toner, you can skip the toner and head straight for this serum. Unlike the regular serum, this serum comes in oil form.

I have tried using this alone without moisturizer and it’s almost enough for me.  Having that said, I still do apply moisturizer post-serum to make sure the benefit is fully absorbed.

After this serum for some time and have not noticed any break outs.  I can’t vouch for the anti-aging effect as I don’t have much visible lines on my face yet, but I do wake up with supple skin in the morning with this! And I love it!   I have no complaints about this, except that maybe they should make the products in 30ml instead of the odd 23ml? 😀

Price: RM119/23ml

Availability: The TNS Skin Lab at selected shopping mall, or online. Best part is? Free shipping for RM50 and above in Malaysia!

For complete review, there will be the eye cream, and day and night moisturizer next.

Hmmm…interesting. These products seem like great ones to try out. They got great qualities that an anti aging product must have. Will check on these…..
