The first time I laid my hands on REN Moroccan Rose Otto Bail Oil, my affair with oil started since then. It was my first time trying my bath, and I fell in love with it right away!
However, due to the really steep price, it’s hard to sustain my appetite, and I was kinda bummed by the fact that I can’t bear to part with my money for the shower oil again. And then, I met L’occitane Almond Shower Oil. It’s not cheap alright, but it’s slightly more attainable than the REN.
And now, I am always on the look for a good shower oil. When I first heard about a new shower oil in town from Lipidol, I was overjoyed, because it’s cheap!
Without any research, I immediately picked up a bottle when I saw it at Guardian. It didn’t really bother me that the packaging is really simple, and there was no tester available.
The ingredients look pretty normal to me, as the main ingredient is the soy bean oil. However, I should have sensed the trouble when I knew Lipidol is from the same guys behind Bio Oil (Union Swiss).
If you had no idea, one of the Bio Oil main ingredients is the oil derived from duck feather…
Lipidol is very easy to lather, and you don’t need a lot of it.
Since it it’s a cleansing body oil, you can omit the shower gel and depend your life on this oil for cleansing.
And guess what? This oil stinks! 🙁 I can’t put my words to it but I almost got rid of it from my body as soon as I poured it out! It’s supposed to contain some lime essential oil but I have no idea where has it gone. I swear that I’d shower with lime flavored dish detergent any day!
I googled up, and found that almost ALL of their oils, except for this cleansing body oil, contain paraffin as their first ingredient. Paraffin on my face? Seriously? I am not ready to turn myself into a wax figure yet!
Conclusion
Conclusion is, this is so bad that don’t even bother to pick up anything from this Lipidol, until, perhaps there’s total reformulation. I have used it once, and poured this out the second time for this review purpose. I would rather bath without soap any day than having to use this!

Phew… thank goodness I didn’t get this! I’m quite happy using the L’Occitane one (thanks to you!) and yeah, it’s expensive but at least doesn’t trigger any allergies or smell bad.

Ugh the smell!!! AWFUL! Definitely not a dupe for any of the lovely body shower oils out there. And I’m not putting any paraffin on my face either. Yuck.

Bought the bath oil and the smell reminds me of a petrol based product rather then anything else. Liquid paraffin is used in cosmetics and medicines but I wounder whether this one contains the cheaper cousin – re smell.
Thank you, your review has saved me from buying this stuff! I didn’t know it was from the same company as BioOil, which I would never use.
