Dehydrated Skin? Painful Facial? Introducing the new Clarins HydraQuench Range and Facial Treatment – Hydration from Madagascar!

by xin on June 15, 2009

On a very different-than-usually-boring Thursday morning, I had the honor of being invited together with another 4 pretty ladies to a workshop held by Clarins, in Clarins Institute KLCC, to try out the new Clarins HydraQuench Range.

The Clarins Institute looks very glamorous indeed. It is definitely not something that I imagined myself walking in to enquire about the products or treatment. But I changed my mind now! You know why?

The reception area is neat and bright.

As you step further in, you will find some consultation area with nice couch and desk. And of course, the display of products. Did you see something cute in the picture?

Guess what is this? No, this is not the ‘sepak takraw‘. This is not a toy. It is actually one of they key ingredients in the HydraQuench range — Katafray ( katafray tree bark).Β  When I smelt it, it was something like chinese herbs.

The katafray tree exclusively grown in Madagascar! Yes, the Madagascar. And this picture just popped into my name when I heard the name Madagascar!

mad is not hard to link them right? πŸ˜€

Anyway, back to the Clarins. πŸ˜› After the brief introduction of the new HydraQuench Range, we tested some of the products out and the results were quite surprising!

02 Packshot Masque Crème-Anti-Soif-HydraQuench Cream-Mask pa

One of the star products of the day was: HydraQuench Cream-Mask.

I had some on my hand for test for about 10 mins. And guess what? After about 10 mins, the cream left on my hand was only about 50%!!!! Damn I did not know my hand was thirsty too! =/ And ooops, sorry I forgot to take a pic to share, was too excited about it.

And a demonstration of how should the mask be used correctly. Our beautiful model of the day was Amy. And….ooops I always use lesser amount for my face and I just realized it few days ago. =/

After having the HydraQuench Cream-Mask about 10 mins on, you can apply a piece of dry, empty sheet mask on your face. The purpose is…

To massage your face to let the mask penetrate better! One thing I find it really unique about Clarins is, they emphasize on strokes and massages.

Massage from inwards > outwards. This paper mask is not for sale in Clarins though, but I believe we could hunt around for this.Β  After massaging for about 2 or 3 mins, you can now discard the mask and cleanse your face.

You can use water or wet cotton to wipe it off! See how radiant and glowy Amy’s face is? I envy her good skin! Could it be Clarins? πŸ˜€

After the demo, it was the game time! Each of us was given a mug of 150ml plain water, with a leaking straw. The rule was to sip the drink from the bended and leaking straw within 15 secs.

And awww! I did poorly! Though I was thirsty, I just drink much from the straw. LOL. This shows how the harsh external factors are affecting our skin from absorbing the water.

P/S: I was the only lousy one, ParisB and Bee managed to drink quite a lot under harsh condition!

After the game time, we toured around the Clarins Institute. Their treatment room is nicely furnished, i lurrve the dimlight! And notice the clouds-painting on the ceiling? Sometimes, attention to every little detail can really warm a heart. πŸ™‚

And there our facial treatment – Hydration from Madagascar @ RM198/60 mins started.

To be honest, it is definitely the most enjoyable facial treatment I have ever had, because they do not use extraction at all! Instead, they incorporate facial massages and strokes, together with Pro-Formula saloon products into facial treatment. With that, the blackheads and pimples would lessen. But of course, it needs regular treatment to see result.

I was so so relaxed that I fell asleep as early as the first 15 mins. πŸ˜› Sometimes, facial is a pressure for me as I am really really pain-intolerant. What can I say? It was really an eye-opening experience.

After the facial, it was time to end the session.

Each of us was given a bag of Clarins product + one rhino mineral water to bring home. πŸ™‚

Ta dah!

Inside the bag: One HydraQuench Cream Mask, one HydraQuench Intensive Serum Bi-Phase, and one HydraQuench Smoothing Gel.

The history of Katafray and recipe of healthy juices. πŸ™‚

There I really enjoyed my time exploring and knowing Clarins product.

HydraQuench Smoothing Gel 50ml @ RM205.
HydraQuench Intensive Serum Bi-Phase 30ml @ RM225
HydraQuench Smoothing Gel 75ml @ RM135

I don’t believe in extraction with that needle thing. ewww! I tried 3 times and I gave up. My face was swollen badly. Why do you puncture your skin??

My hydration set is from Origins, just the mask and Make A Difference Moisturer.

Clarins looks not too bad (but very expensive). I might give it a shot.

I would imagine mine would “drink” this up readily too! My skin is dry on the inside, oily on the outside!
