If you have been washing clothes yourself, or send them to laundry, you will probably find that the use of fabric softener in dobi is very very common.
I have been sending clothes to laundry for quite some time, and there are some skin conditions that i have been experiencing myself, the most obvious one would be: break-outs and redness on face, and some unknown pops.
I use face towel to wipe my face, and yeah, the tower has been washed by laundry, and drowned in fabric softener, hence the soft waxy texture, and non-absorbant cloth. And since then, i have noticed redness and unusual breakouts on my skin, and I have finally concluded that: it is because of the fabric softener.
I did a quick search on google and found some bad things about fabric softener:
- Central Nervous system problems
- Fatal edema
- Headaches
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Dizziness
- Blood pressure reduction
- Skin irritation
- mucus membranes
- Respiratory problems
- Pancreatic cancer
I don’t know how true are all the statements but skin irriation is my main concern now. Does anyone else face the same problem like I do? Do you use softener at home?
I have told the dobi I frequent to NOT use fabric softener for my clothes, and my skin seems to have calm down a little.

oh, not on my own experience, but I’ve got friends who broke out because of the skin softener too!!! So yeah, better be careful, you could be allergic to it!
Perhaps you have sensitive skin, but softener seems to be ok on myself. 🙂

might be the soap powder that din rinse well, i had problems with the dobi cuz got soap powder residue on my clothes!

wa…. sometimes i got redness on my face, i never tot it is caused by softener. omg….. maybe i should stop adding softener to see it will improve onot. 🙂
my clothes have been doused in softener all my life, and that’s why my home has a lovely smell, lol.
but breakouts due to the softener? never ever thought of that. hmmm.

I’ve never had any problems due to using fabric softener. In fact I absolutely love it! Makes my clothes and bed linen so lovely-smelling :p
