When I was sent a couple products of Dior New Look collection to try out, this 5-color eyeshadow palette – Bleu de Paris was one of them.
254 Bleu de Paris- a tribute to the Versailles blue of Marie-Antoinette reinterpreted in a soft version imbued with Parisian chic
Comes in a classic velvet pouch, and house in a midnight blue solid case , I feel like a royalty already!
Bleu de Paris consists of 5 cool-tone blues, with a combination of matte and shimmer. The color combination reminds of a gala dinner or cocktail evening! It’s always been my ‘want’ to master the blues, even though I hardly wear blue eye shadows, but I do have a thing for blue shadows and polishes!
Swatches from top right > bottom right.
The color is quite pigmented and I find that some synthetic brushes are not very good at picking up the color, in fact, using finger works the best for me.
I am particularly liking the first color, it is like a shimmery royal blue, very pretty. The shadows are very fine and smooth. And my next favorite is the gunmental black.
I did a quick work of colors on the eye. Unlike nude colors, blues are less forgiving and it is easy to make mistake if you are too heavy handed. I always try to start light so mistake can be easily undone.
This might not be the best example, but don’t you just love the colors?
You can keep your cheeks and lip color light to shift the focus to your eyes.
What I like the most about this palette is – the versatility and the quality. You can double the black as your eyeliner, or use it on its own, and very minimal color fall out, shimmer is glam and not trashy. With my oily lids, with just primer, the color lasted almost 8 hours on me, including a barbecue session and sweat! Very impressive.
Overall, it is quite a nice palette especially if you have not owned any blue shadows, the downside is, price is rather steep and you might find similar palettes out there.
Price: RM210 (USD$60)

I thought the colors looked rather drab in the pan but the swatches show up their true beauty! I love applying my Dior shadows using fingers too!
Wonder if I should get this… the first blue color is lovely.
the color is beautiful on skin, especially if applied with fingers
