Over the weekend, I went for my session of private make up coaching session with Dior, and I liked that it’s private and really hands-on session!
It was done at Gardens Hotel in a spacious room, it was a 1-1 session so you can ask all the questions you want and have a feel of the products on display.
During the session, I picked up some handy tips from my makeup artist- Eddie, to be applied to my makeup routine 😉 Try it for yourself too!
#1: Using eyeliner as eyeshadow base to intensify the colors of eyeshadow
This has got to be one of the best tips I have ever learnt! Do you find that the eye shadows you use aren’t as intense as those in the advertisement even though if it’s the same product?
- To intensify the color of eye shadow, or to make the colors last longer, use a black pencil/kohl eyeliner, create a thick line on your eye lid starting close from your lash line. Then, smudge the edges with a sponge tip, or with your finger to soften the harsh line. Don’t worry about it looking too black cause the eye shadow will still be able to show its color!
- If you are using a 5-color Dior shadow palette, use the medium shade and dab it on the center of your lid. Then, use a darker shade to dab on the outer of eyelid.
- Using a brush, blend the colors together. Now you will notice a great intensity of your eye shadow.
- You can even skip the need for eyeliner when you have a great eye shadow base.
#2: Basic rules for brows and eye makeup
As illustrated in the picture above, when you fill in your brows, and doing eye makeup, you can use the pencil to place it diagonally near your eye. The guideline of when to stop is – it should not be exceeding the line. I was told that for eye makeup, it’s better to keep it within the range so you eyes will not look droopy.
#3: Foundation brushes
The new foundation brushes seem really intriguing especially the Dior Backstage Full Coverage Liquid Foundation brush. It’s a flat top brush for liquid foundation and it’s really, really dense and compact. To use it, dab some liquid foundation on your cheeks and swirl it (in circular motion) if you prefer a medium coverage.
Then, for the areas that you think need more coverage, dab it a few times and you will see the coverage being built. Look at my cheeks, hardly any marks! The only pity with the brush is…I need to swirl quite a few rounds for my big face! Though the brush is soft, swirling too many times actually annoys my skin.
Overall Thoughts:
Within the hour of private session, I had quite a good overall experience especially the chance of testing the products without funny eyes from the regular sales assistants from the counter. I am absolutely interested in the One Essential Super Serum and itching to get a bottle to try out. It’s main function is to detoxify skin and as a pre-serum, it helps to boost the efficacy of your next serum. After all, the fundamental of a great makeup is still good skin!
Have you been to any private makeup coaching session…and would you like to attend one? 😉
