Hi Micke! My New Love after Helmer + Current Room Setup

by xin on January 30, 2013

Being a ‘organizer’ person, I have always loved the idea or any tips for home organizing. Not that I am a very neat person, but I just love stuff like especially tier drawers!

Ever since I purchased a Helmer, it was soon filled with nail polishes, and other misc items. Then, I added 2 drawers on top!

Long story short, my room became really messy when things started to accumulate over time, and paper bags were all over the floor with hardly any space for walking!

So, I knew I needed to do something about it. I was really tempted to get a Muji drawers, in fact I was about to pay for it, until I made a phone call to check the measurement. I was really disappointed, almost heart broken that I could not get it because it was too big for my dressing table.

Not giving up, I decided to get another Helmer to solve my problem. As luck would have it, Helmer was out of stock and I was really frustrated at desperate at the same time. I had to just get something so I started to browse for options. Well, I was really glad that I met Micke!

Micke

Hi Micke! It definitely matches my furniture much better than Helmer, which is either in red or white.

Width: 35 cm
Depth: 50 cm
Height: 75 cm

There are a few pros and cons, pros are: it has 2 deeper drawers and it’s made of wood, it has wheels too!

The major con would be – dust attack as it’s not air tight as you can see.

top tier

2nd tier

My first 2 tiers are filled with new stuff and small items. I did not partition the drawer as I have all items in different sizes, and there’s no need for categorization either.

3rd drawer

For the deeper drawers, I keep my makeup pouches, and to-go makeup pouch. I keep them as it is in the pouches because I briefly remember what are the items in the pouches, by reorganizing them might cause me memory loss ><

4th drawer

The last drawer too contain makeup pouches and some new pouches, and some extra space to spare.

Micke Overview

And my current setup!

I am quite satisfied with my ‘hard work’ organizing them and finally my room is presentable once again.I have placed a non-slip mat from Ikea so currently my work handbag sits on it when I am back from work.

As you can see, my dresser is quite low and has a longer mirror, I am still on the lookout for makeup organizers that can fit on my dresser.  And not forgetting I have hidden compartment behind the mirror too!

I hope I am able to maintain the current tidiness as long as possible, and if you have any useful ideas, do share! :D

Are you into organizing as well?

Aiyah…there goes my plan of buying Micke… cos I can’t stand that it’s not closed off from the dust. Need something that can keep my stuff clean and dust-free while I’m away from Malaysia. :(

Yay for getting organised! I loved Micke, but had to give up the idea because of the dust factor – I ended up with the Malm chest of drawers since I don’t have an actual dressing table at the moment and the flip-up mirror is super useful. :P

Oh yes, I’ve definitely seen this one and I like how it matches your dresser! Fits a lot too, surprisingly. I’m not too fussed about it not being air-tight but I can see how it will be a bother! Hurray for organizing :D

^5 for all these inventions! I am not too fussed about it not being concealed too since these are the stuff that I will use quite frequently

yay for tidiness! i bought the Rast and it currently holds my polishes and new skincare. too bad it doesn’t come with wheels because it sure is heavy to move around with full load!

Micke seems good for putting things you will be using frequently, so not so much dust accumulating :D

Rast is huge! I don’t think you can move rast around even if it has wheels !
