Melvita Comes Malaysia – The Quality & Affordable Organic Skincare

by xin on August 26, 2011

When the words ‘quality organic skin care or essential oil ‘ pop, the first word that comes to my mind is: Expensive. And I had some reservations towards organic skin care, organic food is good…but I am not sure if it is the best for my skin since I have been slapping chemicals on my face almost all my life.

This remained true until I was introduced to Melvita, a French organic skin care brand which is relatively affordable, and coming to Malaysia!

MELVITA LOGO

A little bit of brand story here:

Melvita was founded in France at Ardeche by Bernard Chevilliat, who was French biologist in 1977, started with bee keeping.

Melvita means Honey (Mel) and Life (Vita) in Latin.

He created Melvita in 1983 on a preserved site in Ardeche and it was the first brand that was granted ECOCERT certificate for organic products in France.

In short, Meltiva products are of high standards of organic products. It has no synthetic fragrance, parabens, mineral oil, silicones etc harmful chemicals, and are at least 95% of the total/total plant based ingredients are natural.

Melvita Organic Skincare

Meet the star products of Melvita. I have been using them for a week now, and read on for my quick thoughts.

From left to right:

Floral Water, Extra-ordinary water, and beauty oil.

Melvita Skincare

The Bio-Excellence (pink) and Epicosma (orange) range.

Bio-Excellence is recommended to reduce the appearance of first signs of aging, to boost radiance and firmness.

Epicosma is infused with Royal Jelly and related bee products, it is said to suit even sensitive skin. But if you have had allergic reactions with beewax, you might want to be careful.

Meltiva Floral Waters

The floral waters in different varieties.

Quick thoughts:

I have been using Orang Blossom floral water for about a week as my pre-toner mist. In fact, it is just like a facial mist. However, due to the tall and heavy glass bottle, which makes it hard to be carried around. It has to be housed this way due to the essential oil content. It is very light and disappears very quickly. Usually, I will pat on the extraordinary before the floral water dries.

Melvita Extraordinary Water

Extraordinary waters in different flavors.

Quick thoughts:

This has been my toner for a week right after floral water. You are recommended to use your fingers to pat on so all corners can be reached. I think it is a better idea too since cotton pad tends to soak up the product.

Melvita Organic Beauty Oils

Organic beauty oils for different skin concerns.

Quick thoughts:

Sames goes with floral water and extraordinary water, this beauty oil has been my moisturizer for a week at night routine. My choice of beauty oil is Rose Hip Oil, for anti-aging and dry/mature skin. Surprisingly, it is not too greasy for my skin as my skin has become drier since the start of Clarisonic. I have not had any breakouts so far. Who knows with consistent use, I can look 30 when I am 50? ;)

Tip: To avoid feeling greasy, pat on the beauty oil when the skin is still moist with toner.

Overall, I am really liking these 3 products that I have been using. And I honestly think that the beauty oil is quite an affordable product, for any branded serums, it can easily cost you above RM150/30ml. And just a drop of oil is enough for your face & neck.

I am actually quite looking forward to try other Melvita products when the store is opened officially ;)

Price:

Floral Water – RM91 – RM122/200ml

Floral Bouquet ( Organic Extraordinary Waters) – RM78/100ml

Beauty Oils – RM103 – RM137/50ml

Availability: KLCC ( Expected to be launched in September), 1-Utama (Unkown)
