Monday’s Awesome Discovery – Soak up the moisture with Daiso silica gel packs

by xin on May 7, 2012

With the high humidity in Malaysia,  I have been a fan of dehumidifier jars (eg Thirsty Hippo) for a long time. The water level increases very fast and I usually have to replace it every 2-3 months.

I use it in the wardrobe, in the shoe rack, cabinet for my skincare, and of course for camera lens storage.

However, I have been looking for a convenient silica packs to be stuffed into bags and cosmetic drawers for a long time. Some of the jars are too big to fit into tiny space.

Finally, a while ago, I discovered this strip of silica gel packs in Daiso for RM5!

Long life Daiso!

I like it in small packs so I can cut it up and store it in different places.

It comes with a 16 individual gel packs in a strip.

Depending on the amount you need, I cut up mine 2 packs for one use.

It’s leak proof and it doesn’t turn jelly nor soggy.

Just after a week’s of usage, my beads have turned into cute pink beads!

When most of the beads have turned pink, you can reactivate it again by reheating in the microwave oven, or leave it to bake under the sun.  Of course, if you are too lazy, you can just buy another strip for replacement 🙂

It’s so convenient and economical, everyone should get one too!

Price: RM5/16 individual packs

Availability: Daiso

I buy my dehumidifiers from Daiso 🙂 They have one which contains black round gels (like milk tea pearls!) and I find that it’s quite good not just in absorbing humidity but in removing bad smell, too.
