I have been an essential oil user for at least 3 years already, and I must say I am in love with them too!
Hello lavender!
First I started with essential oils for face (still using now), essential oil for breathing/sinus, and also body essential oils for slimming. Then I have also essential oil for bust firming.
Last but not least, of course essential oils for home fragrance and also massage! The great thing about essential oil is, it is not invasive but it gives you peace of mind……and zen! Though the effects are not immediate, but you get the immediate satisfaction from the scent on its own. So, it is all good!
During my trip to New Zealand, I popped a visit to lavender farm which has retail products in Queenstown. Surprise surprise! It is my biggest shopping damage for the trip.
I bought a gift set (NZD$70) for myself 😀 It consists of a lip balm, shower gel, hand cream and also a massage bar.
I am very sure that I took a photo of the shop….but I couldn’t find it now 🙁
And my 10ml pure essential oil.
Ben Lomond is the name of the farm, it produces lavender organically for skincare, as well as culinary use. If you wonder…no, I didn’t buy any for cooking.
10ml of essential oil cost me I think NZ$2o (~RM68).
When you are buying 100% pure essential oil, it means that you should not have large amount of pure oil to be in contact with your skin as it can cause burn.
There are mainly 2 types of lavender:
i. English lavender ( with sweet undertone, widely use for balms and creams).
ii. Dutch lavender ( it has a sharper tone and more pungent)
This that I bought is English lavender.
And oh, I even bought a small lavender pillow! It is filled with dry lavender and I was told that it can last for a couple of years. I leave it near my pillow and it releases fragrance as I sleep.
And you can squish it to get more of the fragrance. If you like a boost, you can add a drop of lavender essential oil into it to be absorbed too.
Usage of lavender oil:
1. Massage – you can drop 10 drops of pure essential oil to about 20ml of almond oil (base oil). This can help people with skin conditions such as eczema too!
2. Bathing – drop few drops of oil into your bath tub for a relaxing bath.
3. Burners – drop about 3-4 drops of oil into burner as home fragrance. It is really effective in calming, insomnia and also as anti-depressant too!
4. Neat – to use it neat, you can few drops onto cotton bud and apply it to temples for headaches, minor burns, cuts, and also for antiseptic use.
I had minor cut on my finger, I applied a LITTLE bit of oil and it healed the next day already!
As for deciding the quality of oil, I can’t say much but just follow your instinct and sniff it. BUT I think no one should buy a RM5 essential oil for topical use, or as home fragrance. You might want to be careful of the ingredients in those.
My cute essential oil burner.
I fell in love with the oil immediately and decided to return to the shop to get another bigger bottle as I might not be able to return to the place so soon 🙁
My 10ml vs 50ml 😀 YEAY! It should last me for a really long while now.
When I revisited the shop, it was only 8am+ and it was still closed. But the lovely shop owner stays the next door hence I braved myself to ring the bell to get my stock. ( Yes I was despo because we had to leave foe the next town already).
I can’t remember how much was the 50ml (maybe NZ$70 or $80) but absolutely no regrets 🙂
