Weekend News: Touring Skinfood 1-Utama & Thoughts

by xin on November 26, 2011

2 weeks back, I had the chance to tour the newly launched (renovated) Skinfood store in 1-Utama. It was not a drastic change and products are still neatly displayed on the shelves.

My first impression of Skinfood products when they just came in Malaysia was – they are cute!

Skinfood Store in 1 Utama

Skinfood has been around in Malaysia for a couple of years, I have tried quite a few of their products when they first came in, but I can’t keep up with the over-whelming of varieties that they have. As of now, most of my sheet masks are from Skinfood.

Having visited the Skinfood in Korea, they have even more varieties over there, although what we can get here is enough to cater for most skin types.

Some of you might remember, my ultimate favorite has to be their peel-off nose pack. In fact, it is still my favorite up to date.

Hit Skinfood products

Their latest range or products – I am currently trying the Gold Kiwi Refiner (toner).

Originating from Korea, you can find a Skinfood almost at every corner in bigger cities in Korea. Fortunately for Malaysians, Skinfood is quite accessible and price is the next cheapest in world wide after Korea.

Skinfood products

Some of the products which I find them interesting.

1. Argan Oil Silk Hair Mask (RM16.90/pc) – I was told that this hair oil is amazing! It comes together with a reusable shower cap. I had this in my basket, but decided to give it a pass for now as I find that to be quite pricey for about 2-3x use, and I have too many oils to be used up.

2. Black Egg Pore Foundation (RM74) – Not sure how it fares but it looks really cute! Egg-shaped products had suddenly become a trend in all the Korean cosmetics/skincare.

3. Gold Kiwi Hydrating Mask (RM47.90/10pcs) – Have used this twice and I love both the effects and scent! A capsule is enough for 2 applications.

4.Omija Whitening Program (RM169.90) – Have never tried it, but as far as I have observed, it is the most expensive skincare range in the Skinfood.

Overall Thoughts:

Apart from the above pictured, there are a dozen more of the products, such as BB cream, foundation, cosmetics, nail polishes, hand cream and you name it!

I am liking their coffee body scrubs, and also have tried almost every single flavor of sheet mask from them. I have purchased a black bean nose pack to see how it fares compared to the original non-flavor nose pack.Β  The products are cute, and generally inexpensive. And with the wide variety, you are bound to find one that suits your skin type. I have not used any full size of their skin care, so I am unable to share any thoughts on that.

After touring the shop, we had the pleasure of having a sharing with the CEO of Skinfood Malaysia and the VP of Skinfood, who is the son of the Skinfood founder πŸ˜€ It is always exciting to me when someone shares their success stories, very inspiring and it gives you a whole new concept of the brand, especially when you see the passion in the people talking about it.

My take? If you are looking for inexpensive little Christmas presents, you might want to take a look at the shop, sheet masks (starting at RM8.90/pc) is always a good choice! And for every RM20 you spend, you get a stamp, and with the collection of stamps, you are entitled to some tier gifts. So, why not? πŸ˜‰

Availability: Skinfood is available at most major shopping malls in Malaysia.
