From experience, primer around the eyes can make the skin oilier and thus more prone to smudges. So, I’d say not to use the primer.

The best way to make eyeliner last is to use a sealant. I use Make Up For Ever because I have it and it lasts a million years :P but there are other cheaper versions in the market I can’t vouch for.

I think the primer made your liner smudge more! But I am quite surprised why it smudges on you even without primer, I did the same thing, but I am using the bent liner (thin one) and i applied thinly rather than apply thickly at once, and i slowly build the thickness (not sure if there is a difference to it) but I smudged so hard and it didn’t happen the way it did to you!!! hmmm…

Paris B: yeah am thinking whether i should get the seal, or try other gel liner? or buy the rm5 daiso to try first? hmmm rm75 difference. dilemma…

Nikki: i just tried the MM without primer, i did really thin line on lid…but it smudged anyway! and i am in air-cond room :( :( :( WHY WHY WHY

I think your lids are super oily! As for the eye primer, I use UDPP which is very good at controlling oil so I don’t experience smudging because my lids don’t become oily. So, I’d assume that the Stage primer isn’t meant for preventing oily lids but rather helps color to grab on so that it looks more vibrant.

I’ve been using MU Masala gel liner for the past few days and I did experience some smudging on the inner corner of the eye even with UDPP. The only gel liner that I have not had a problem with is MAC blacktrack.

I’d agree with the sealant. You can just try the Daiso one first la.

poor thing :(

oh, another thing you can try is dusting some loose powder over your lids AFTER you’ve applied the gel liner. this will help to “set” the gel liner and it should have better lasting power.

hope that helps! don’t give up just yet!

Connie: definitely appreciate your tips. uh my stupid lids :( yah will get the daiso one first since its only rm5 and who knows it might work! i have yet to try the loose powder method, will do so when i experiment again.

LyNn: hmmm shipping was free for orders with USD$20 or above. the MM gel liner was something less than RM30.

try use kate’s gel liner. i have no problem in smudging, with or without primer (i use udpp). it NEVER smudges on my lids so far. but if you insist on using your gel liners. you can try putting black eyeshadow on top of your liner that you’ve drawn. it’ll help set your eye liner. hope that helps.

WOW. You might want to use really super non-oily around your eye area. I never use gel liner before. Don’t know which brand is good at all…

Try Bobby Brown Long Wear Gel eyeliner. I absolutely love it! It stays on very well even without primer and is easy to apply. No smudging too. :)

I use BB Long Wear Gel Eyeliner on a daily basis. However, it also smudges on me by evening time. So by the time I leave work, I look like a walking racoon.
