A couple of months ago, I received a Laneige Water Bank Essence & Mineral Skin Mist for review. The first time I tried Laneige products was when I purchased a Hydra Bank set when I went to Korea. I loved the set and it treated my skin well at that point, when I was still having a semi dry skin.
2 years down the road, my skin has developed a serious thirst for hydrating products ><
Laneige Water Bank Essence
I believe this Water Bank Essence is one of the best sellers for Laneige, and this is a new formula to the old one.
It’s a gel-emulsion, it’s runny but not too watery. It has a light but pleasant scent. I usually use 1.5 pumps for the entire face before the moisturizer.
Once you spread it, it melts into water and it is absorbed into skin pretty quickly due to the light weight. It provides instant hydration without leaving any sticky feeling behind.
It works as a great hydration essence if you have normal/combination skin. Unfortunately for my really dry skin on the weekdays in extreme cold air-conditioning, using this alone will not be enough. Therefore, I top up with day cream or face oil for pro-longed hydration.
Mineral Skin Mist
For this Mineral Skin Mist, I find it to be really average. It smells pleasant alright, but it doesn’t really provide any hydration purpose. However, it does help to cool down the skin when it’s dry and hot, but it’s just that. And there are cheaper options out there for the same purpose.
The spray is really fine so a 120ml bottle will probably last you forever even if you use it generously. Due to the same reason, it becomes less travel friendly.
Having said that, I do use this to replace my toner in the morning when I am too lazy to open the cap for toner. It’s also useful to freshen me up when I am sleepy.
Overall Thoughts
If you have combination skin, and looking for an inexpensive serum, Water Bank Essence is quite a good size and will last you for a good while. As for the Mineral Skin Mist, it can be easily replaceable by other inexpensive and more travel-friendly brands.
