Review: Laneige Hydra Bank Set for Dry Skin

by xin on May 19, 2010

Laneige has been in Malaysia for some time, and to be honest, I have never paid attention to this brand until I was in Korea.

There was a Laneige flagship store in Myeongdong and it was 2-storey high!

And one thing about the Korea trend (I assume) is, they like to buy things in bulk! For example, I have seen many promotions for buy 3 Laneige water sleeping pack then free 1. I was quite amused: do they use THAT much?

But, after seeing so many good skins in Korea…I decided to get myself a set of Laneige Hydra Bank set for dry skin too. It was about RM190. Can anyone tell me the price here?

It has: Power Skin Refiner, Balancing Emulsion, Water Bank Cream, travel set of the items and one cleanser.

Power Essential Skin_EX is the first step after cleansing. It feels like a toner,  but slightly more moisturizing. It is supposed to work before toner. I find this works better for me than the clear lotion as it helps my skin stay hydrated longer.

Balancing Emulsion 1_EX is the second step in the routine, it acts as a toner or sometimes  a moisturizer. It works best when you pat the emulsion on a cotton pad onto your face till everything is absorbed into your skin.

After this stage, my face feels really hydrated and moisturized.

Laneige Water Bank Essence is my second last step in the day skincare routine. Actually, there is a moisturizer to help to lock the moisture in your skin even longer, but I find that using all 4 steps in one go makes my skin feels a bit too thick. So I decided to skip the moisturizer for day and go straight to sunscreen.

Water Bank Cream 1_EX is the moisturizer I use at night. It is thicker than gel cream and true enough, it leaves my face moisturized till the next morning. It might feels thick to oily skin type, it is that kind that feels thick but watery at the same time. Definitely not the oil-streaking kind of cream.

Overall, I think Laneige Hydra Bank set has quite improved my dry skin a bit. I might switch to a lighter version after I am done with this set. Looking at the size of the set, it should be able to last for 4 months of daily usage for anyone.

I’ve seen Laneige down here and I love to try their brand because of their model Song Hye Kyo 🙂
