Monday’s Life-Saving Tips: Reparing (Almost) Broken Nails

by xin on September 24, 2012

Hating how fast the weekends fly?

Yes me too!

But I have a little tip to share here, maybe it’s very common to all of you, but having gone through years of experience with almost broken nails occasionally, I have finally came across something that works better than anything in the past!

chipped nails

Presenting to you my almost broken nail. I couldn’t clip it yet because it’s still deep down there, and if I trim my nails at this stage, broken piece will be thinner and it will become easier to break.

The black bit is leftover nail polish that I am too afraid to remove for the fear of breaking nail further.

OPI Nail Envy

My recent favorite base coat – OPI Nail Envy for dry and brittle nail.

It is quite thick and takes a little longer to dry. However, it doesn’t bother me because I like that it really helps to protect my nails from turning yellow even with the regular coloring.

After applying Nail Envy in attempt to ‘seal’ the gap, it did help,  and it took a few days for the coat to be washed off. I just reapplied weekly until I have enough room to trim off the broken bit. I have tried various polishes but so far this sticks the best.

I have tried other methods like bandaging the finger but it’s too irritating.

Do you have any tips to share about ‘repairing’ broken nails?

Thanks for the tip! My nails are quite strong and hard so i don’t usually have this problem but i think it’s good to protect the nails nonetheless. I just don’t do much for my poor nails…

Great tip! I would usually go ballistic too if I saw a chip on my nail or getting almost broken! I would go crazy piling on various strengthening nail stuff etc..! lol I’ll keep this in mind!

I saw that nail of yours on Sat, forgot to ask you about it! great tip though, sounds easier than the cellophane tape some others recommended. 😀

WHAT? U saw my broken nail from afar? 😉 good eye! cellophane tape is dangerous, might peel off the entire piece when you want to peel the tape off
