Review: Not Impressed with Max Factor False Lash Effect Waterproof Mascara in Black

by xin on November 8, 2010

After reading numerous posts about Max Factor, and with its arrival in Malaysia, it was a sign for me to find out what the hype is all about!

Max Factor False Lash Effect Waterproof Mascara in Black

During the Max Factor roadshow in Mid Valley, a friend of mine picked up Max Factor False Lash Effect Waterproof Mascara in Black, there was  a buy 1 free 1 promotion. So we shared the promotion. Retail price was RM66 for 1, and I paid only RM33 for mine with the promotion.

So, what’s the great deal about it?

On the first look, it is certainly a big fat tube, with 13.1ml content.

Max Factor False Lash Effect Waterproof Mascara in Black Wand

Not surprising, inside the tube there is a big fat wand.

And upon opening, you can see that the content is quite fresh, still quite watery, or ‘moist’. LOL.

Max Factor False Lash Effect Waterproof Mascara in Black Before

Naked eye after curling my lashes.

Max Factor False Lash Effect Waterproof Mascara in Black After

After 3 layers of Max Factor False Lash Effect.

Good: Fresh, doesn’t really clump.

Bad: Takes time to dry, wand is quite huge, smudges and flakes! And pricey.

I was actually quite disappointed with the product as I expected amazing result with the price. Worst of all, it smudges on me and the flakes fall on my cheeks. Not so pretty.

Honestly, for that price, I can buy 2 of Maybelline the Magnum Volum Express Waterproof Mascara which performs much better!

If you think it works magic on you, show me!

It doesn’t look too bad on you but if it’s gonna flake and smudge then what’s the point right? I still haven’t started using mine lol. I’m afraid of the huge brush

I’m sorry this didn’t work for you. I think it looks really nice on you but smudges and flakes are big no-nos.

Huh? No good ah…? :-( I had high expectations for this too…

It’s quite pricey for a mid-range mascara. Doesn’t qualify as drugstore buy but definitely not a luxe counter brand either.

Prefer Majolica at this rate.

on the one hand, it maginifies your lashes but on the other, it sucks. so sad la since it’s got so much potential…

Mmmm… looks awful, actually. Even Baviphat Fiber Proof Mascara is so much better than that and probably cheaper too! Not sure if you can get that in Malaysia, though. :)

gio: yeah the flakes are just too annoying!

milktea: it is not that pricey IF it works. but i am sure there are others who will love this too!

juan: unfortunately the sucky part just too overwhelming to overlook.

Dee: Baviphat mascara? Now we have baviphat counter in malaysia :D

Sorry this didn’t work for you.. I hated it on the first application but on the 2nd try I loved it! 3rd, I hated it again lol It’s just not really consistent with the results.

Check out my lashes!

i love this mascara so much, I’m on my THIRD tube! If it doesn’t really work for you, wait till it dries out because you never know if it would work great on you if it’s dried :) imo, the best way to apply this mascara is to twirl it from base to tip :D that way the product is equally distributed on each lash! Good luck :) x
