NEW: Clarins HydraQuench Range and The Moisture Replenisher Facial Review

by xin on August 31, 2011

2 years ago, I was introduced to the Clarins HydraQuench range and the facial, and about 2 weeks ago, once again I had the chanced to try their new HydraQuench range.

Clarins HydraQuench Intensive Serum Bi-phase

The new products: HydraQuench Intensive Serum Bi-Phase, HydraQuench Cream Melt and HydraQuench Cream Gel.

Packaging wise, it has not changed much compared to the previous generation, but the serum is now a round bottle with gold cap instead of flat bottle with white cap. It is more expensive looking now.

What has really been improvised is the formula of the products.

The key ingredient is still Katafray extract, but Hyaluronic Acid from wheat has been added to boost the effects. They work together to create a barrier on the surface of the skin to prevent water loss and also repair from within.

The secret lies with the difference of molecular weight in hyaluronic acid, which is the high molecular weight (hMW) and one with low molecular weight (lMW). They work to improve the protection of the skin surface and replenished dermal water reservoirs while katafray extract is to restore skin’s barrier effect and the production of natural moisturizing factors.

It’s getting technical..but what, we, as consumers, should know is: they work together hand in hand!

I have been trying the products for a while…and they really feel quite different from the previous generation. I will tell you more about them when they are ready for review πŸ˜‰

The KLCC Clarins Skin Spa has undergone a renovation recently and it is definitely more comfortable now πŸ™‚

Clarins Skin Spa Treatment Room

Unveiling the new room. It feels more spacious now, and I just found out that the beds have electric blanket for those who might feel cold during the facial. A nice touch!

I was given The Moisture Replenisher Facial (RM228/60 minute). I know the price can be a put off by it is good for once-a-while pamper without the painful extraction.

And Clarins has also revamped their facial treatments with new massage techniques.

Before the facial started, my beautician explained and showed the exact products to be used on me, and products used during the facial are the pro-formula (red bottle).

I always prefer to know and see the products used on me, I had a bad experience once which the beautician just slapped some yucky mask on me, and it felt really cheap and horrible.

The facial started with cleaning my feet, and I noticed that the new massage techniques focus more on pressures instead of strokes.

A pampering 60 minutes soon flew pass πŸ™

After the facial, my face was instantly revived and felt very supple. Since their facial treatments do not apply extraction, it takes more facials to clear out the gunks on your face too. It may not give you the satisfaction of ‘smooth to the touch’ after facial.

If you have a big event ahead this might be a better choice so your face will not risk the reddening and scars.

it took me a while to get used to the serum as it is lighter than the previous generation πŸ˜‰ if you have normal-dry skin, it works for daily use πŸ˜‰

I agree that time flies fast during the entire session, and their massages were so comfortable. Completely different from those offered by other salons.
